The story of Hotel Parkside is a tale of resilience, generosity, and the transformative power of education and family. Established in October 2000, its origins trace back to the inspiring journey of Mr. Sher Bahadur Pariyar, whose life was changed by the kindness of strangers and his determination to rise above adversity.

In 1998, Sher was a young boy working at Sauraha Jungle Lodge to pay for his schooling. His father, an Indian Army soldier, did not support his desire for further education. Despite the hardships, Sher persevered, working for food in a small lodge. One day, he met a German family who, after hearing his story, decided to help him pursue his education. A few weeks later, Sher received a letter from them offering support.

This marked the beginning of a new chapter. The German family took Sher to Kathmandu, enrolling him in a private school, a challenge given his earlier education in a government school where most subjects were taught in Nepali. Sher worked tirelessly, excelling within a year.

After completing his schooling, Sher went to Delhi for higher studies, earning a degree in Economics and Political Science, a diploma in Export/Import and Tourism, and mastering the German language. He later trained and worked in Germany at the Maritim Park Hotel in Mannheim. Despite opportunities abroad, Sher returned to Nepal, driven by a dream to uplift his family and community.

Sher and his family established Hotel Parkside in Chitwan as a family-run business. Starting with 12 rooms, the hotel has grown to 27 rooms, now featuring air conditioning, a swimming pool, and plans for a conference-ready restaurant. Sher’s brother, Shir Lal Pariyar, manages hotel operations and ensures guest satisfaction, while Hom Bahadur Pariyar handles online marketing and sales. Together, the family has built a reputation for exceptional hospitality.

Beyond the hotel, the Pariyar family extended their vision to community development through Green Society Nepal, established in 2009. This initiative reflects their belief in giving back to society.

Key Projects under Green Society Nepal:

Elephant Dung Paper Factory (2009): Inspired by Sher’s travels to Thailand, this innovative project transforms elephant dung into paper products, creating jobs for women and promoting sustainable tourism.

Sauraha Eye Clinic (2011): Built with support from Africa Luz Germany, the clinic provides free or affordable eye care to thousands annually, including over 900 cataract operations each year.

Green Society Public School (2014): Offering affordable, quality education to local children, the school serves over 500 students, with 165 receiving scholarships.

Community Library: A hub for learning, equipped with books, computers, and internet, offering educational opportunities and training for all age groups.

Stitching Training for Women: Empowering women with skills and resources to become self-reliant, the program provides free training and equipment for stitching clothes.

Emergency Support: The family has consistently provided aid during natural disasters like earthquakes, floods, and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through these initiatives, the Pariyar family has profoundly impacted their village, offering opportunities for education, employment, and empowerment. Their journey, from humble beginnings to building a sustainable future for their community, is a testament to the power of hope, hard work, and unity.

Our Goals:
