A great place to stay to see the park. The staff are extremely welcoming, polite, and friendly. Gopal, the lead guide for the hotel, is one of a kind! He grew up in the area, and knows every inch of the accessible park like the back of his hand. He’ll find every rhino, deer, wild pig, peacock, and even some tigers for you during the national park tours. He will also give you the more personal side of the Nepali culture, and a great glimpse into life in southern nepal. We couldn’t have been happier with our time at parkside and the tours they provided.
Almost an afterthought because the staff are so wonderful, are the rooms. Clean, spacious and nicely situated. You feel like you are living in the small nepali town, but secretly have all the amenities of home. Look out the front window, and see the local taxi drivers and tour guides sharing a laugh between their busy schedules in a simple but lovely courtyard. Look out the back window and see the local goats and chickens walk past and nibble on grass in the field, then catch a glimpse of the elephants returning to their enclosures for the evening after giving some tours. Just great!
The hotel’s restaurant serves up some great local food, but has options for all comers. We enjoyed all the meals we had there, and even came home with plans to try to duplicate some of the yummy eggplant dishes they served up! Tasty!
The staff were more than accommodating to our rambunctious 2 year old, and went out of their to make her trip (and ours) a memorable one.
